Idea

You know what would be the next great (if not, helpful) innovation of the internet? A search engine that tells us what language a word came from.

My web surfing journey had usually brought me to various kind of website across the globe. A small fraction of it is foreign to me, simply by the fact that they use a language that isn't familiar. More often, they are sufficed with (dot)com or (dot)net, so, I couldn't really tell which country it came from. I usually gotten frustrated because naturally, I want to know the content on the website. I usually resort to asking a friend if they have any idea. the usually reply would be: "try translating it on google". yeah, that's a great idea, but, how do I translate it when I don't even know what language the words from?

If a search engine as I said earlier would exist, it would help me, who a lot of other people too, who are trapped in this kind of situation.  Furthermore, not only that it would be good for acquiring foreign information on a commercial level, but it is also a great learning tool. It will help people to have a broader knowledge on languages by learning words from languages that are foreign to them.

How? For example, one word could coexist in two or more languages. These are called a bi-lingual words or multi-lingual words. For example, the word 'amok' is a legitimate English word, so does it is a word in Malay language (shoutout: "cikgu naziah! i still remember what you have taught me!" :) ). This kind of learning really does expands our knowledge.

Another thing about multi-lingual words, it doesn't usually posses the same meaning in one language as it does in another. For example, the word 'bisa' coexist in several languages in southeastern Asian countries. If you ask a Malaysian "What does the word 'bisa' means?", they would quickly reply "It means 'poison'." But, if you are traveling to Indonesia, you will (and I assure you, you will) hear the word 'bisa' in almost every conversation, time and time again. Why is that so? Does Indonesian talk about poison that often? No, not really. But unless they make a living out of pharmaceutical, they might be. Don't be surprise, because, the word 'bisa' in Indonesian actually carries the meaning of 'able' or 'capable' (in the form of 'am/is/are able' to be precise). And this is true over the fact that Malaysia and Indonesia are adjacent to each other geographically.

Yes, if this innovation is invented, I do think it would facilitate the process of learning, increase knowledge availability and not to mention exponentially enhances the ability of information transfer. Googler, take notice! (and by Googler, I mean the people who work at Google, not just those who use Google. It is an unofficial vocabulary and could mean both, so do take note)

TA: Are you feeling well?
Dude: Yeah, just that I think I swallowed a bunch of chlorine from the pool the other day.
TA: I think you might have a chlorine poisoning.
Dude: ....

That dude happens to be me.
Darn it, I am not feeling so well!

sometimes we go blunt with what we do, we almost always forget the bigger questions.

otak terburai

when you thought you've seen the dumbest,
when you thought you've seen the nastiest,
when you thought you've seen the most unspeakable,
when you though you've seen the most taboo thing,
you'll be awed by what you'll when you look back into the of the world history.
this is where the word 'wrong' is insufficient.

it is wrong.

Jati Diri

savoring and indulging oneself in another's culture and historical heritage doesn't mean one is forgetting one's own. it is a struggle, indeed. it is hard not to loose oneself to the foreign way when one's own way seems irrelevant in this foreign place. it is a fight, between survival and lazeliness, adapting over keeping true to one's sense of self. and a hell lot of bandwagon in the mix-up. there are somethings one have to let go when in a place as such, or else preeminently face the consequence of beating oneself up going against the current.

i always ought to keep some important part of me malaysian. and all, muslim.

random thoughts of: Love and Hate

Have you ever had one of those epiphany where what you used to love have now turned into something you hate and what you used to hate have now turned into something you now love?

Well, it's human.

random thoughts of: Theory and Real Life

Good thing real life doesn't always accord with theories in books. If it does, it would be so scary. Just imagine, if real life equates to theory, the world as a whole would ended up as one ginormous theory. There would not be anything real nor would there be any life.

Highlights of the Week

third to nineth of august had been a wonderful week for me. the main reason is because it was a relatively productive week compared to other weeks prior to it where i was just sitting at home doing nothing, writting some crappy verses or staring at the ceiling believing that i could someday see the sky right through it. and i rarely stepped outside 25 metres radius of my house during those weeks. that was how unproductive my weeks was. so, thank god for a week away from those. for this particular week, i mainly spend my week at the Kem Bina Negara, Tanjung Rhu, Sepang attending Kursus Kenegaraan (Nasionalisme Seminar) held by the Biro Tatanegara (National Affair Bureaue). These are some highlights of the week:

Kursus Kenegaraan
Kursus Kenegaraan or translated as Nasionalisme Seminar was a 5 days camp mandatory to Malaysian citizens who are going to study abroad or who are going to kick start his/her first professional career. it was objected to instill the spirit of nasionalisme to each and every citizen of Malaysia so that we know where our country stands. a lot of input was obtained throughout the whole week. my head felt like bloating and was ready to explode anytime during the camp. there were a lot of things that were outside of my knowledge area. though most of it have no direct effect to me for the time being whatsoever, i would not take them lightly; neither i would take them directly there and there. there are a lot of unassurance in the input that i believe i need my own justification and juradiction to believe and take into mind. there were a lot for me to learn. the road is still stretching far ahead. fuhh. nevertheless, the whole seminar may sounded really serious but i ended up discovering that i spend most of my time there laughing. yes, laughing. seriously. i was laughing all the time. with all the adfp-mara peeps yg kepala xbrape nk betul. plus the trainers, facilitators and speakers who all have a pretty loyar buruk heads, i would say it was a heck of a week. the speakers and trainers kept teasing Syed Aliff, the penghulu and other appointed leaders. Encik Azri with his theory why Hiroshima and Nagasaki was bombed instead of Tokyo preceding the Pearl Harbour incident and we had two people among us look a hell lot like two facilitators -- and that was why they had been our bahan for the whole week and yeah, we love teasing them. not to mention my LDK group. Kumpulan 2. we spend most of our time, when Ustaz Halim was not in the wakaf, playing teka-teki and idiotic game such as "Berapa Bulatkah yang Ada?" and "Pikir Jangan Tak Pikir". With Acap and me bringing game-game auta berlevel negative 18 fresh from Sekutu-Sekutu Fasi MMS, and topped it off with "Berapa Bulatkah yang Ada?" and "Ujian Mengeja Darjah Satu" from Fatin, Harisa and Neno -- which i believe originated from Sekutu-Sekutu HACC Members -- memang tak kering gusilah kami mengena-ngenakan manusia-manusia yang lain. hahaha. that was Kumpulan 2 all about. it was a fun experience, thought it may sounded a bit cruel. i personally like this group, eventhough the time we had together was brief. i will certainly cherish and remember this group. and i'm gonna miss every one of you very much. sedih ah tak dapat jumpe yang gi u lain-lain tu, ecspecially Acap. tau ah jodoh kau kat tempat lain. kekekeke. and owh, to those who managed to solve any of those silly games or ujians, congratulations! you guys are not calang-calang orang! tabik wo~ bukan senang. some people took 7 months to figure out only ONE game. you should be proud of yourself! heeee. chaiyok! to sum it all, BTN was idiotically fun!

A Kick and a Catch
evening of the third day in camp, we, the boys, was entertained with a futsal mini tournement in the field near the dining hall. it was a competition between the LDK groups, around 4 or 5 player per team. it was a while since i've played futsal or any other sport. so it was sort of exhilarating. i believe that is the same to most of us. my team, Acap, Naqib, Hayqal, Nizam and me won two matches in a row and advanced to the next stage. but due to the time constraint, it has to be stopped right before the next stage. the game was not intended to be finished in the first place. it was just as a filler so that the girls could get on with the absailing in the evening and the boys in the morning after. but nontheless, i did enjoyed it. it was fun; getting together outside and spent some time with some great peoples, and sweating. i mean when else would all of these many people gather to play futsal together on the same field. everyone will be flying off soon. gotta cherished that moment. plus, the refree from the facilitators was hillarious. i couldn't help laughing by their words, act and behaviours. you guys are a bunch of interesting people. two thumbs up for great people like you. thanks for putting this matches up. owh, almost forgot about the highlights. during our first game, we were up against Kumpulan 9. none of the teams scored a single goal so we ended up with a set of penalty kick as the tie breaker. to my own surprise, i did manage to save a goal and scored a goal for my team. wuhu! dah brape lame dah aku xmen bola. xkarat lagi nampaknya. huhu. i was the goalkeeper for the time. being a basketball player, i was always being put as a goalkeeper whenever i play football or futsal. people think that a basketballer is good goalkeeper. i didn't believe that, only partially. though i do not enjoy playing goalkeeper, i do enjoy playing futsal together with friends. no matter what position im in. but the truth has to be said, playing goalkeeper is way frustrating than playing point guard. loving basketball still.

Down the Line
i got the chance to absail! again. this was my second time. the first was with fa-c team back in march. back then was a bit diferrent. this time is higher. fuhh. my feet was a bit shaky when i climbed the last few flight of the stairs. cuak gak dowh. i could see the ocean right next to the camp and the thick haze of the countryside covering most of the atmosphere. it kinda give a delicate shiver of being at a really tall places. but nevertheless, that was just momentarily. once you are hooked up to the line and off the platform, every fear will be void. all the thing you'll see is the wooden plank that you're kicking. and the next thing you know, you are already on the ground. that moment, it got me thinking "i'm done already? cepatnya. i haven't started to enjoy myself yet. bummer". sounded arrogant? you bet. hahaha. and owh, i did enjoyed Naqib coming down the rope. he was going down like an elevator. slow and stay in a straight line. no kicking and no sweat. hahaha. and he landed on the ground, laughing. bravo. no harm done. that's the way to do it. huhu. the quickest was arif. he got down with just three kicks. a really amazing feat. he did it professionally that he make it look so easy. ha, jangan maen-maen, dia future housemate aku tu. haha. cayalah arif.

Syazwi Mazli's First Ever Taxi Chasing Scene
After gotten back from the camp, we were desembarked at Seksyen 18 colleges. i went directly to INTEC in Seksyen 17 to get some important documents for my session with academic advisor later. after waiting at the esso bus stop, i ended up in a cab with Paan, Azleen and Elin. i was sitting in the front sit so i got to chat with the driver. he was a novice in the cab world, barely a year in the business. i enjoyed getting to know people. knowing what walk of life they came from and observing what kind of perspective they have to any sort of things. after a quick ride, we where dropped off at the very end of the flat area nearest to the campus gate. we splitted our fare and got off. the minute the taxi was driving off, Paan spouted out "Tadi bukan beg kau dalam kereta ke?". yup, it was true. my bag was in the trunk of the car. i was the only one who brought my luggage bag because the rest of them left theirs back in Seksyen 18. the moment Paan voice travelled through the atmosphere, bounced into my pinna, vibrated my tympanic membrane, translated into impulses, streamed up my spinal cord and arrived at my central cortex, i instantly snapped and started running. i was determined to chase the taxi. there was no second thoughts. the cab flew off. without hesitation, i strided my legs. i took off with a swift sprint. to those who are familiar with INTEC surroundings, the cab was driving down the road next to the block of flat in which one of the owner was keeping a big, white, noisy, constantly-barking dog as a pet on his fenced porch. i was running down the same road as the cab with all my limb power. my mind was focused only on one thing. the cab. my bag was in the trunk of the cab. all my stuff was in there. i have to stop this cab. i have to. i must. that was the only thing running through my head, and that what drove me to run with all my might. i ran and waved and shouted; hoping that the driver would have taken a glance at the rear mirror and noticed me. but unfortunately, hope was thinning in as i felt that the taxi was picking up speed. the driver didn't noticed me. instead, he was accelerating the cab. the cab was already at the bend. i thought my effort of chasing it had become futile. i suddenly thought of a back-up plan as it turns into a bend. within the milisecond, i have a quick thought of how to retrieve my belongings through the cab company. therefore i resort to identifying the cab's registration plat. WHM 8199. got it! i was left with a little sigh of relief; knowing that my belonging, though with some effort, is tracable, as the taxi was turning into the road. suddenly, i noticed that the traffic in the main road was somewhat dense and predicted that the cab will stop before entering it. i was right! the cab did stopped for the traffic. in a split second, i decided that there was still time. i pulled out all my strength and continue running straight down my path over the tarred road, cutting through the green and heading over a large drain. for visual detail, the cab's path was around the bend of letter 'P', straight up, turn right, left and left again into the main road heading left; whereas, my running path was like the the straight line of letter 'P', from the bottom straight up. i leap over the drain with assurance as im used to jumping in the court. with the help of adrenaline gushed through my veins, i came across. i landed on my feet; and as i did, the cab had entered the main road and was just about to drive down the main road. i quickly drew a large stop sign with my right palm. the cab instantly stopped dead right on its track. the driver was stunned. i took a deep breath from my heavy panting. the driver's face was shocked, and in awhile, his facial expression turned into guilt. i signed him to open the trunk and he immediately understood it, in a teriffied manner. i took my luggage out of the trunk and slowed down my breathing in relief. i went to the driver and without yet having said a word, he was apologizing like he did an unforgivable sin. i calmed him up and said it was alright. i didn't take it personally. i know everyone forgets. sometimes; or once in the while. including me. (for me, it should have been 'most of the time' ;P). i then left him with a friendly advise to be aware of the luggage next time. he nodded in relief and concurrence. he then drove off. i was happy that my bag was safe and sound with me again. i jumped back over the drain with my luggage, noticing that the three of my friend stood at the other end of the road. i wave at them with a smile. i walked back to them. and that was my first ever taxi chasing scene. cool eyh? ;). and owh, i was wearing my brown single-laced bag throughout the whole scene. could have been faster if i took it off. bumber ^_^"

Husty Busty of KLSentral
after a long lepak-ing session at the ossp (waiting for kak zira to sort the document out), i manage to hitch a ride with Aisya on her mum's car. Mashi and Naqib was with us. i got off at Subang Jaya, making my way to KLSentral by KTM. i arrived safely there only to find that it has only been 7 o'clock. it was too early to be having maghrib prayer and too late to be getting home before mahgrib. so, i took the safe decision to wait for maghrib here first in the mosque of KLSentral. i spent my time strolling around, being at places people rarely be, just observe people (some more of my odd interest), did some good deeds, walked around, confused the KTM ticket personel and other random stuff. then, when it was time, i went straight to the mosque. after i finished my obligation, i slouched my back at the corridor of the mosque, with my luggage bag against the wall, preventing it from obstruting the passage way. i planned on waiting for awhile for the congestion of people coming back from work to ease. around 30 past 8 would do. while i was on the wall thinking, a familiar face popped from the undergrowth of the corridor. it was Hayqal. and later, came Azza and Akak (Rohani). i greeted them and chatted. they said they were on their way home, stopping by for prayer. so i offered to look after their bags. so the agree. after they were done, we chatted a bit. Akak was heading Ipoh with her mak cik. they were going to take the IntecCity KTM. Hayqal and Azza was heading to Seremban by her sister's car in Asia Jaya. so they too, took off. we bidded our farewells there. it would be a long we will not see each other because where will be going to diferrent universities in the states. at 7.45pm, i got down to my platform, heading for UKM (i've changed my mind). i waited and waited for the train to come but it never did. there was the delays and all that. it were all over the announcements. it was agonizing. let me save this part of the story for your peace of mind. at the end, the train ride me from KLSentral to UKM which usually takes about 40 minutes took me me more than that. i arrived at UKM around 9.30p.m., exhausted. my family was waiting more than half an hour. darn KTM with their delays. garghs. thereafter, we had out dinner outside and arrived home about 11p.m.. funny thing did happened in the KTM though. it was packed as a sardine can when it took of from KLSentral. it gotten less dense at Serdang and a lot more less dense at Kajang. after people get off the Kajang station, there where 4 empty seats, scattered. many of the people in the train were still standing, including me. the seat next to me was empty. i stared at a girl accompanied by her friend nearby, who was also standing, signaling her an offer for the seat. "saya dah nak turun dah dkt UKM ni. awak duduklah" she suddenly offered me back. (note that Kajang station is adjecent to UKM station) i realised that we were in the same position. without a word, i refused and turned my face away to young man. i looked at him and said, "bro, duduklah. aku nak turun UKM jap lagi." i offered to him since there where no other senior citizen or disable person left standing. and he was the only one left who was logically near to the seat. he then said "ehh, xpe, xpe. saya pun nk turun UKM gak." suddenly, the four of us started to giggle and burst into a small laughter. we laughed together at the situation. it was amusingly awkward. i couldn't contained it. it was just tickling. i saw the rest of people who were standing smiling, amused. the atmosphere changed; from weary and gloomy to airy and cheerful. it was amazing. and funny too. i couldn't stopped smiling even until we were in UKM. there, to my amazement again, something awesome happened. almost everyone who were standing earlier get off the train and those who was sitting remain in the train. exactly that. as thought it was arrangement. i climbed the stairs and stared back in disbelief; and walked away with joy. it was a funny end to a stressful day.

Barely On the Grid
(alternative title: Life-life Fish)
when the intec bus took off for Tanjung Rhu on that fine monday evening, i took a glance at my cellphone and accidently spilled out a word: "Damsyik!" (my new unvulgar cuss word derived from the word 'damnsh*t'). my phone's battery was at its lowest. or in another term, satu bar. i was in frustration, monologuely of course, because i didn't bring my cell charger. my phone sustained that critical condition throughout the camp. despite of that of fact, i did manage to call Dzul before he took off and i did manage to call my dad to arrange my return from btn. i turned off the phone from time to time to save the power. my phone was officially dead when i was trying to turn it on in Masjid KLIA. it was right after solat jumaat while walking back to the bus. bumber ^_^". it was officially 4 days: my phone stayed one-barred. that is a clean 96 hours! hahaha. the phone was reincarnated that night at 11 o'clock right after my long journey back home.

This picture is just for show

A Day Out with Friends
to my amazement, i instantly gotten a phone call from Syafiq Akbar Ali (my schoolmate) the moment my phone was reincarnated. i was shocked and amused, for awhile, then i tuned into syafiq's voice. he invited my to join his outing tomorrow. delighted, i tiredly agreed and dozed off. the next day, we went out, strolled around, had a meal, talked, took some pictures, went to watch G.I.Joes, had another meal, talked a bit more, took some other pictures, bid our goodbyes and travelled safely home. i shall not bored you readers with the details for it is only interesting and amusing to us and us alone. thank you. anyhow, thanks Syafiq for the day out. it was fun. goodluck in your studies. i pray that you'll get what you want. to Sadid, Usamah, Nawi, Alan, and Hidir, goodluck to all of you to mates! bertebaranlah anda semua di muka bumi ini. selamat menuntut elmu.
